chews get dirty

and lost a lot

so, you need a chew holder.  which chew holder is right for me?

clip on shoulder

neck lanyard

springy waist

If your child does not tolerate wearing a necklace and needs ready access to a chew at a moment's notice, a clip on shoulder holder may be a good choice.  The clip on attaches to the shirt collar or shoulder and can be positioned for easy reach.  Since the clip on lanyard is only 8" long, it cannot be used to swing at others and is not a strangulation hazard.

If your child does not mind wearing a necklace, the neck lanyard option may be the right choice for you.  The neck lanyard is 16" long (doubled up) and keeps the chew handy or can be stowed away under the shirt until ready for use.  Comes with a breakaway clasp in case the lanyard gets caught or pulled suddenly.

If your child does not like to wear a necklace and the clip on shoulder option is not appealing, the Springz Chew Holder provides the option of clipping the chew to a belt loop, waist of the pant or even onto a backpack for easy access to the chew.   Chews can be stored in a pants pocket and taken out when needed.

why use a chew holder?

Every child is different.  Some tolerate wearing necklaces, others insist on wearing chews on their wrist, while others need to have the lanyard attached to their shoulder or waist.

So, why use a tether and strap, neck lanyard and strap holder?

Keeps Chews Clean and Sanitary

Chew holders keep your child’s chew off the floor.  This is really important since your child puts the chew in their mouth and a dirty chew can reintroduce an illness to your child.  Use of chew holders also help to keep the child from throwing their chews around the room or at school.

Keeps Chews Available

Chew holders keep your child’s favorite chew with them all day long.  You never know when they will need the chew and you never know when a staff will need to have the chew in a situation where there is a biting risk.  Chew holders provide a sense of security for the child and safety for staff that are handling a child.

Keeps Chews from getting lost

Countless chews have ended up under sofas, out car windows, taken by other children, etc.  Chew holders insure that the chew stays with your child.

How Do I Know Which Lanyard is Right For My Child?

You generally need to try the different chew holders and neck lanyard options and find out which one is preferred by your child.  For instance, one child may love their chew on their shoulder while another finds it uncomfortable or too distracting.  There are also children that have sensory issues with items placed around their neck.  A shoulder clip on chew holder may be a perfect solution for this child.  The full range of various chubuddy chew holders are designed to be attached to the shirt collar, shoulder, wrist and waist of the chewer.

In any event, having a favorite chew close at hand and clean can be very important.  For certain kids, this can be almost a necessity when professionals are working with them for safety reasons.

We have found that the shoulder or collar mounted tether is perhaps the least intrusive of the lanyard options but some kids may prefer a a waist attached or a necklace lanyard.  If in doubt, we suggest trying the shoulder mounted tether and moving to the neck lanyard if that is what your child prefers.

Another option for older children (above age 12) is the springz chewy holder which can be attached to a belt loop or waistline of a pant.  CAUTION:  since the springz cord extends from a 4" relaxed length to 18", there is a risk of strangulation in younger children.  All children should be monitored closely for safety when using chewing products.

Cleaning Of Chews

It is very important to keep the chews and holders that your child uses clean and sanitary.  Chews are very similar to toothbrushes as they are used daily and put in the mouth.  chubuddy has designed a tubes brush kit to clean chubuddy strong tubes and other chews to protect your child's health.

How To Use Universal Straps

Chubuddy Universal Straps have been designed to hold the most popular chewy shapes including those from Chewy Tubes (registered), ARK Therapeutic (registered), Sensory University (registered) and others. For T- shaped products, simply place the down tube through the hole and then thread the C ring through the strap as shown. For chew products with closed loops like Ps and Qs (trade names of Chewy Tubes registered), simply fold over the flexible strap through the loop and then thread the C ring through the holes in the strap.
